If you’re looking to improve your SEO, we highly recommend the Yoast SEO plugin. Next, click “Install Now” and wait a bit for the “Activate” button to appear.
Thereafter, click on “Installed Plugins” and “Activate” the plugin. In this section you can also choose to deactivate, remove or change plugin settings.
After you activated “Yoast SEO“, you will notice an extra menu called “SEO“. Through this menu you can manage the plugin settings. For instance, you can enable or disable SEO features such as a “Readability analysis” for posts and pages on your website.
How to upload Plugins in WordPress
Another way to install plugins is by simply uploading them into WordPress. This method is often used for plugins that are not listed on WordPress.org and therefore do not appear when searching for plugins from the WordPress admin. Go back to the WordPress admin, go to Plugins > Add new and click “Upload Plugin“. Then you need to locate your .zip file and click “Choose File“. Open the file and click “Install Now” and then “Activate Plugin“.
How to install WordPress Plugins via FTP
How to install WordPress plugins via FTP? First of, FTP stands for “File Transfer Protocol” which is the exchange of files between computers. If you want to install WordPress Plugins manually, you will first have to download the plugin. Do not upload the plugin’s ZIP file, but unzip the plugin first. Next, open your FTP client (e.g. FileZilla) and log into your server. Then, go to the folder that contains your WordPress website. In most cases this folder is called public_html, private_html, httpdocs or httpsdocs. Go back to your computer and find the plugin .zip file and unzip it. When the upload is complete, go to your WordPress admin and go to “Plugins > Installed Plugins“ and you will see that the plugin is deactivated by default. Click on activate and you are done.
